Blogpost Cocktail attire
With the Lustrum Gala coming up in a few weeks it’s time to air our party attire after 2 years of zoom-celebrations. For this blogpost Tamara has browsed the darkest depths of the fashion web so you don’t have to, and presents to you a quick Flanorised version of cocktail attire for all. Let’s dive in!
First and foremost: what is cocktail attire?
In essence it’s quite simple. It’s too formal for casual wear, but not so formal as black-tie. Since that leaves a grey area I’ll give you a few suggestions to keep in mind for when you assemble your outfit.
Things to wear:
-
Dress pants
-
Pantalons, culottes and all those flowy, fancy things
-
-
Button ups
-
Blazers
-
Waistcoats
-
Midi- or mini-dresses
-
Statement jewelry
-
Classy jumpsuits
-
Ties/bowties
-
Dress shoes
-
Heels
Things not to wear:
-
Jeans
-
T-shirts
-
Large bags
Things the internet claims are strictly forbidden but I say ‘you do you’: <3
-
Floor lenght gala dresses or skirts
-
If you can still squeeze into your prom suit or dress then go for it! It’s formal, fancy and you’ll look great!
-
-
Sneakers or comfy flats
-
As gorgeous as dress shoes and heels are... Suffer for fashion? Never.
-
If you havent’ got anything lying around and don’t want to support fast fashion here’s some lovely alternatives:
Second-hand shops in Groningen:
-
Appel & Ei
-
Recessie
-
Vintage Island
Or maybe check your friend’s wardrobe and swap/borrow!
What’s most important here is that you have fun with it. Go mad as a hatter!
Love,
The GalaCie
